Site-Specific Template
Phase 2 of NFC’s FrameSAFE program involved compiling installation techniques from framers across the country. Recognizing that there are multiple ways to effectively frame buildings, this program embraces the complexity of different regional markets and the fact that unique jobsites require creative solutions, not “one size fits all.”
The first priority has been to identify specific activities that require non-conventional means of fall protection. During the construction of residential buildings, it is sometimes infeasible or it creates a greater hazard to use conventional fall protection systems at specific areas or for specific tasks. These areas or tasks may include:
- Installation of floor trusses/joists
- Installation of floor sheathing
- Installation of roof trusses/rafters
In these cases, conventional fall protection systems may not be the safest choice. A site-specific plan is designed to enable employers and employees to recognize the fall hazards associated with a project and to establish the safest procedures that are to be followed in order to prevent falls. The FrameSAFE Site-Specific Fall Protection Plan Template was recently updated as version 2 of the manual was rolled out.
