Framer Creates Online Community of 13K Framers

“Framers are part of a brotherhood,” says Ben Courtney, a framer in central Missouri for the past ten years. “Our profession sometimes gets stuck with a stereotype that can be viewed negatively, but I wanted everyone to see that we help each other out and that everyone is welcome to join us and be part of our brotherhood.”  To accomplish this goal, Ben turned to social media and has created a vibrant online community of framers.

Frame the world

In May 2018, Ben started the Frame The World YouTube channel with a few other framers. They posted videos of projects, framing techniques and even a few field tests of tools.  The channel quickly developed a solid following and the group looked to expand the number of framers contributing jobsite videos.  In August 2019, Ben launched the Frame The World Facebook group to broaden their reach and by December 2020 the group had 10,000 members.  Today, its membership has grown to over 13,000.

“Frame The World is mainly about sharing our experiences as framers, supporting each other and providing education,” says Ben. “We have 17 administrators and moderators who review and approve posts and we don’t tolerate posts that seek to cut down other members or trash the work of other framers.”

Ben points out the framing industry is in desperate need of more people. He says, “We hope this group can show others what the framing profession is all about and draw more people into the industry.” That said, Ben says the group doesn’t have an ulterior motive and long-ranging mission, it’s just about creating a space where framers can talk with other framers and improve their craft.

If this group sounds like something you want to join, you can apply here on Facebook. If you’re also looking for a group of framers who can help you take your framing business to the next level, consider joining the National Framers Council (
